Discover Spiti: The Middle Land, a breathtaking Himalayan valley nestled between Tibet and India. At altitudes reaching upto 15,000 ft, the cold desert mountain landscape offers adventurers an unparalleled ride through its surreal terrain. Experience stunning monasteries, remote villages, and awe-inspiring landscapes that blend local culture with raw natural beauty. A paradise for riders seeking an extraordinary expedition into the heart of the Himalayas.
Fly into New Delhi – the capital of India! We will look after your airport transfer and the group will congregate in the evening for dinner and a quick meet-up. An early night before departing for the mountains the following day.
Map
The group sets out from Delhi towards Manali, with an aim to reach by 1600hrs so that we can complete pre-ride formalities. The motorcycles shall be handed over to the riders and any pre-ride adjustments can be made according to your preferences. We shall check your vitals to have baseline readings for the days to come. The team will then host a ride briefing, followed by dinner.
Map
We depart Manali after an early breakfast, and make for Jalori Pass (10800 ft. ASL). An initial highway run before the road narrows as we branch off and begin the picturesque climb to the pass and descent down the other side! We soon ride alongside the Sutlej River till we reach our halt for the night. Quite the introduction to riding in India!
Map
The fast, winding road alongside the Sutlej leads us towards Kinnaur, and soon a whole new world opens up before us. We begin to ascend into the hanging valley of Sangla, the road hewn into the mountainside for kilometres on end! We arrive in Batseri to a spectacular Himalayan sunset to cap off a super day.
Map
A leisurely start after a long day of riding the previous day. We set out towards Chitkul, the last village on the Old Hindustan-Tibet route, gaining altitude rapidly. The road is narrow and winding with stunning views all the way through. After going as far as the authorities allow, we return to the main highway before branching off to Kalpa, where a stunning view of the Kinner-Kailash awaits!
Map
Departure post breakfast, as we descend from Kalpa and begin our journey towards Spiti. The road, once pure hell, is now well manicured tarmac with some extremely satisfying twisty sections. We pass Khab, the confluence of the Spiti and Sutlej, before beginning the climb to Nako and beyond. We ride alongside the Spiti river for the remainder of the day, before reaching Kaza for the night.
Map
A rest day for the group. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Kaza – visit the local marketplaces and places of spiritual significance. Interact with the locals and learn about their culture and how they spend their days in this unique part of the globe. Most importantly however, give your body an opportunity to rest and acclimatise to the high altitude – this will hold you in good stead for the days to come!
Map
A short loop around Kaza today, exploring some of the most notable landmarks in the region! We head up towards Hikkim, the site of the (dubiously decreed) highest post office in the world! Send a postcard off to your loved ones and continue the climb to Komic (15000+ ft. ASL) - the highest point on our ride! We then head to Lidang via a lesser known backroad, before returning to base in Kaza.
Map
The most challenging day of the ride. Early departure from Kaza via Chicham Bridge, a marvel of modern day engineering before starting the off-road climb to Kunzum La. A short stop at the pass to pray for smooth passage the rest of the way. The road is narrow and rocky a fair amount of the way through - both technically challenging and tiring, but extremely rewarding for those who make the journey!
Map
A lazy start after the rigours of the previous day. We take the smooth tarmac from Sissu to the Atal Tunnel - a 9.02 km long tunnel at an altitude of around 3000m above sea level. Upon emerging on the other side, we begin our descent to Manali, stopping for lunch en route. The group will congregate in the evening to celebrate an epic adventure one final time, before parting ways the next morning.
Map
The group sets out from Manali towards New Delhi – back to full-fledged civilization and chaos! Bid the majority of our team goodbye, but only till next time! Transfers on this day will be organised by our team and part of your package.
Map
Finally time to head home after a magical experience in the Himalayas. Airport transfers shall be organised by our team. Till next time!
