Himalayan Odyssey is an epic journey into the Himalayas on a Royal Enfield motorcycle and this year, you'll be a part of a milestone edition as we mark 20 Years of our flagship ride. Come join the ride on exciting terrain through empty stretches of pristine landscape, rock-strewn pathways, and views that take your breath away. The 2024 edition will witness 100 riders from all over the world and will head to Zanskar Valley and Siachen Base Camp for the first time. Team Zoji La and Team Zanskar will take two different routes up to Leh where both groups will get together and set off towards Umling La, the world's highest motorable pass. No matter which Team you pick, you'll complete an incredible circuit, ticking off all of the key locations on the ride, covering approximately 3000 km.

The day emotional as this was the last day the teams would ride together and realise the scale of their achievement, consider the core memories they’ve created, the riding experience they’ve had, the friends they’ve made. The day concluded in a ceremony to celebrate their achievement and to take home a certificate to cherish for a lifetime. Goodbyes were said with a promise to Ride Pure, Ride More together. And to top it off, a lot of us will meet at Motoverse 2024!
Day 16
The journey from Jispa to Manali, spanning about 95 km, took riders through the Atal Tunnel, built under the Rohtang Pass in the eastern Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas and the longest tunnel at this altitude at 10 km. Descending into the lush Kullu Valley, the day concluded with the vibrant charm of Manali and relaxed evening by the river near the hotel.
Day 15
Padum to Jispa was a 140-km ride through scenic Zanskar landscapes and challenging terrains. The route unfolded the raw beauty of Himachal Pradesh. Jispa, nestled along the Bhaga River, welcomed Team Zoji La with serene vistas, marking the transition from Zanskar's tranquility to Lahaul's charm.
Day 14
A smooth stretch of tarmac led Team Zoji La into the mesmerising landscape of Zanskar Valley and then came the climb to Sirsir La mountain pass, followed by another climb to Singe La through broken roads, gravel & sand patches, unfolding stunning views alongside the Zanskar river. A 240-km ride led the contingent to Padum, a serene town immersed in traditional Tibetan culture. A good night’s rest will prepare the team for a ride to Jispa.
Day 13
The day had both teams keep their riding boots aside and rejuvenate under the clear blue sky at Leh. The doors to the Great Himalayan Adventure Festival remain open till the 18th of August and so many headed over to the space to jam to the hearty music by Hamza Rahimtula in the evening after a day out sightseeing and trying out different flavours of Ladakhi cuisine.
Day 12
Once the highest motorable mountain pass in the world, Khardung La made a scenic pitstop for both teams as they rode 130 km from Nubra to Leh. The stretch of road that included gravel tracks and tarmac led riders to the first-ever Great Himalayan Adventure Festival right in the heart of Leh City, for a dose of all things Himalayan followed by a spirited music performance by Da Shugs that got a full house at the concert area grooving to their original tunes.
Day 11
The expedition from Nubra Valley to Siachen Base Camp, a ride of over 200 km to & fro, leads to the world's highest battlefield. It was a beautiful ride through some quaint Himalayan villages riding through smooth tarmac, gravel tracks, crossing small streams and absolutely an awe-inspiring venture into the heart of the Himalayas.
Day 10
The route from Pangong Tso to Nubra Valley, a 228-km journey, had riders mesmerised by winding roads offering panoramic views of the exquisite Himalayas. Descending into Nubra, both teams encountered the dramatic Hunder Sand Dunes, where the rugged desert charm meets lush greenery, presenting a striking contrast in nature's canvas.
Day 09
A 200 km ride from Hanle to Pangong Tso highlighted Ladakh's mesmerizing high-altitude terrain. One turn in the road and the pristine blue of the Pangong Tso was revealed, leaving riders gasp in awe. The quaint village of Mann welcomed both teams to beautiful lake side accommodation for a quiet evening next to one of the highest altitude lakes in the world. The striking blue lake amidst arid mountains creates a surreal vista, making the ride truly unforgettable.
Day 08
The D-day arrived and the riders were psyched to ride to the highest motorable road in the world, Umling La, higher than the Everest Base Camp at 19,024 feet. An incredible ride experience, a thrilling adventure and a major bucket list item for thousands, the route took riders through challenging terrains, rugged mountains, off-road, hairpin bends, and serene valleys. Riders navigated through extreme altitudes, relishing breathtaking landscapes and the exhilaration of living a pinnacle in the Himalayas.
Day 07
The journey from Leh to Hanle, covering around 255 km, was a relaxing ride through Ladakh's remote landscapes. This was the evening when both teams were introduced to their camp site at Rhongo, some 35 km from Hanle, a small village, with its pristine beauty and the Indian Astronomical Observatory, offers a tranquil escape in the high-altitude wilderness of Ladakh. This was the first camping experience for many, who found it to be an opportunity for building core memories.
Day 06
Leh, a Himalayan paradise, beckons with cultural and natural wonders. Both Team Zoji La and Team Zanskar had a day off to stretch their legs and explore the charming Leh city. Some headed out to the historic Leh Palace, visited ancient monasteries like Thiksey and Hemis, and indulged in the local market's vibrant offerings. Riders had a chance to connect with the warm Ladakhi culture, and savoured traditional cuisine, for a complete Leh experience.
Day 05
A beautiful ribbon of smooth tarmac had Team Zoji La energised for a 240-km ride from Kargil to Leh. The group crossed Lamayuru on the way, a small Himalayan hamlet situated at the centre of landscape unlike any other, know famously as Moonland due its unique terrain. And with this, the riders mark the end of a significant chapter of Himalayan Odyssey 2024, looking forward to a rest day in Leh tomorrow.
Day 04
The road from Srinagar to Kargil, spanning approximately 200 km, traversed through the Himalayan region's breathtaking vistas, when Team Zoji La rode alongside the meandering Suru River. The journey revealed awe-inspiring landscapes, charming villages, and an incredible opportunity for all riders to pay their respects to the fallen heroes at the Kargil War Memorial. This was also the day when the group crossed their first mountain pass of the trip, Zoji La at 11,575 ft.
Day 03
Yesterday’s exhaustion was wiped out today as the scenery showcased the fabled beauty of the Kashmir Valley as Team Zoji La rode 250 km from Jammu to Kashmir passing through mountainous terrain and charming towns like Udhampur. The team experienced riding in the rain, that lasted for kilometres on end but could not bog down their spirits. Today was also when the group crossed the 9-km long Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, the longest tunnel in South Eastern Asia.
Day 02
Bright and early in the morning, all of the riders were ready to roll for the first day on the road today. After receiving due blessings from Lamas and best wishes from Royal Enfield, the contingent rode 350 km on smooth tarmac from Chandigarh to Jammu. This was also the day when the riders got accustomed to how a Marquee Ride operates and figured out who their riding buddies would be over the course of the many more days of riding.

The riders underwent first aid training on the second day to make sure each understands the basic principles of riding together as a team in the mountains. From being able to act as a first responder to an emergency situation to the dos and donts of the ride, the learnings and practices aim to hold all in good stead not just for the Odyssey but also for their future rides to come. Both groups were also briefed on some interesting aspects of the Himalayas and riding in the region.

On 3rd August 2024, arrive in Chandigarh, settle down for a meet and greet with riders who will accompany you for the next 18 days. You will also get a lowdown on very interesting trivia from the RE team during Bike scrutiny which could help you take care of your motorcycle during the ride. This is the day when you check in to your hotel in Chandigarh, you will also have an evening free to wind down or explore the city.

Riders traversed 200 km from Ladakh to Kashmir Valley via Zojila Pass, paying respects at the Kargil War Memorial. The smooth journey culminated in a breathtaking contrast: lush Kashmir Valley landscapes replaced Ladakh's dry terrain, invigorating the riders.

A delightful 215 km journey from Leh to Kargil, traversing Fotula and Namik La passes, with smooth roads and gentle twists. The easy ride and stunning Ladakh landscape made for a relaxing and enjoyable ride.

Day 05
With a change in plan comes challenges. This particular challenge, however, was something every motorcyclist eagerly embraces. Negotiating the Manali - Leh highway.
240 kms of managing speed, time and fuel. Going through myriad topography of what was once touted the most dangerous road of South East Asia. And the enthusiasm of completing this was palpable. The group entered Leh at 11,500 ft above msl with wide smiles having undertaken a trip not many thought they could, 4 days ago. Accomplished & Elated.
Day 04
An adage true to the geography the Odyssey traverses through, but is no stranger to. The road to Zanskar being declared closed, the Royal Enfield team quickly put contingencies at play to reorient the route through Sarchu. For the 20th year, the Odyssey goes through the widespead plains that mark its entry into Ladakh.
Day 03
A short ride from Manali, once you cross under the mountain through a 9 km long Atal Tunnel, the Lahaul valley welcomes the Himalayan Odyssey into the idyllic hamlet of Jispa, arguably the last greenery filled abode of Himachal Pradesh. With the ride moving into serious altitude from tomorrow, the participants wait in anticipation for some beautiful change of scenery.
Day 02
An upbeat morning start to celebrate the legacy of the Himalayan Odyssey saw everyone seeking blessings from Buddhist Monks before embarking upon the 20th Edition of the legendary ride. What started in the sweltering heat in the plains turned into a pleasant and then slightly cold turn as they got their first glimpse of snow topped mountains of the eastern Pir Panjal at Manali. What adventures are yet to come, surely is the question on everyone's mind tonight.

Today, all riders arrived in Chandigarh, settled down for a meet and greet with people from around the world that they'll be riding with for the next 18 days. They soaked in very interesting trivia from the Technicians during Motorcycle Scrutiny which would help them take care of their motorcycle during the ride. This is also when many stepped out for a relaxed evening in Chandigarh.
