Where heaven and Earth Meet

The Royal Enfield Tour of Nepal is an adventurous motorcycle ride for Royal Enfield owners that flags off in Lucknow, India and crosses the border into Nepal.

PREPARING YOUR RIDE

Get your ride ready for the two week journey across Nepal.

Preparing your Motorcycle
  • Get your motorcycle serviced well in advance and do not wait for the last minute. At ground level the most important components are the tyres and the wheels. Ensure that you have adequate tread on them. We recommend you start the ride with a brand new set of tubes since that will lower the risk of punctures.
  • Get the rims trued, a bent rim will affect handling.
  • Inspect and make sure that your motorcycle has genuine OE parts, especially hubs, spokes, rims and engine components. We cannot provide support for modified items and in such cases you are requested to carry your own spares. We can, however, make arrangements to carry them in the service truck.
  • Check condition of front fork oil seals and replace if needed.
  • Check the rear swing-arm bush for play and replace if needed.
  • Check your chain and rear sprocket for wear. If you find that there are less than four notch adjustments to go on your chain adjuster cam, replace your chain and both your sprockets.
  • The clutch is really crucial for this trip, make sure that your clutch is in good order and adjusted properly. When you open your clutch cover, also check the primary chain and the adjuster. Do not use any kind of additional insert under the chain adjuster. If the adjuster has reached its limit, replace the primary chain.
  • Check the battery and the earthing connections. If you have any history of electrical trouble, be sure that the problem is completely solved.
  • Check for play in the steering column and replace the ball race bearing if necessary.
  • Check all the rubber components like carburettor manifold, fuel lines, air filter manifold etc. for cracks and tears, and replace if in doubt.
  • Check all cables and if found bent or frayed, replace immediately.
  • Finally tighten all the nuts and bolts and if it is found to slip, or the threads are damaged, replace the relevant parts.
gearing up
  • Helmet: ISI, DOT or Snell approved Full face OR Modular helmet: that also fits right.

  • Boots: Preferably riding boots or leather ankle boots.

  • Jacket: Preferably riding jacket or body armour.

  • Gloves: The perfect companion for your ride for comfort, grip and protection.

  • Pants: Preferably riding pants or denims with knee guards.

GEARING UP

Your safety and comfort on this ride depends on getting the right gear.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

The do's and don'ts of a long motorcycle journey.

Rules and Regulations

We try to keep rules and regulations to a minimum, unless when necessary for the harmony and safety of the individual or group. However, we expect the few that we have, should be followed very strictly, failing which we may exclude that particular participant from the rest of the trip.

Rules
  • Intoxication:

We do not allow any form of intoxication while travelling.

  • Conduct:

Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that preserves their dignity and others' around them, including other participants, support staff and locals of the region.

  • Environmental Responsibility:

We must try and ensure that we maintain the sanctity of the regions we are passing through.

  • Medical Advice:

If you are under medical treatment we expect you to follow the medical advice very strictly.

Luggage
  • A vehicle is arranged to carry your luggage, and it will be carried at the owner’s risk. Each rider is allowed to place one bag with maximum permissible limit of 15 Kgs. Each rider must ensure that their luggage is loaded and unloaded everyday.

  • Satellite Luggage (to be carried on the motorcycle at all times)

  • The support vehicle is the last vehicle to start and last vehicle to reach, hence there might be a delay in participants being able to access their luggage after reaching a destination. It can be tiresome to wait for the service vehicle for something essential, but easy to fix part such as a tube. Hence your satellite luggage carried on the motorcycle should consist of:

    1. Change of clothes
    2. One pair of footwear
    3. Set of tubes
    4. Spark plug
    5. Throttle & clutch cable
    6. OEM toolkit

Service
  • Service backup – we will have a mechanic travelling along with some basic backup. If needed, parts may be replaced and the rider will be charged for the same as per the current MRP in Nepal, the amount has to be paid in NRP – Nepalese currency. We will do our best to help with the motorcycle, but in these hard conditions each rider is responsible for bringing their motorcycle home. Therefore motorcycle preparation is very crucial and the scrutiny will be thorough. We will guide you in both.

Where Heaven and Earth meet

Let 2017 be the year where you tick off Tour of Nepal from your bucket list. Traverse the boundary between heaven and earth on your motorcycle. From visiting the Muktinath Temple, which is located at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of the Thorong La (5416 m Pass), Mustang district, Nepal, to visiting the unheard Chitwan National Park, this ride promises to take you to the most stunning landscape and the most mystical of all the rides you must have ever undertaken.

Day 1 sees riders crossing the border and on towards Kathmandu, Pokhara, Jomson and Mukthinath, on what was until recently only a trekking trail.

Nepal is not only the land of mighty Mount Everest but it’s truly a rider’s paradise in every way imaginable.
