Maya Entertainment Ltd., Mumbai - Anukul KukadeSunday, October 30, 2005

"Open roads, picturesque surroundings, fresh air and of course 350cc of unadulterated power, things couldn’t be better."

When we first heard of a trip being organized to Malshej Ghats, Enthusiasm was interspersed with caution and pessimism. “The roads are bad this time of the year”, “Sunday morning 7am, you must be crazy”, the list was endless albeit unique. On hearing the news that we will be provided with Royal Enfield bikes, the roads turned from bad to challenging and the early morning start was termed invigorating. Before I could air my views, a date was set and the sign ups started. Not to miss out on this dream opportunity, I confirmed my participation and so did many others; the limit was set at 18 people. It was set; 30th Oct. 2005 was going to be historic as far as Lycos was considered. Open roads, picturesque surroundings, fresh air and of course 350cc of unadulterated power, things couldn’t be better. Throw a few adventure sports and a back up support team and you have the recipe for a perfect day trip.

We started from our office Maya Entertainment Ltd. (Andheri) at around 7:00 in the morning and by the time we touched the Nasik highway the riders were getting a taste of the speed, stability and effortless ride quality of a Royal Enfield motorcycle, not to forget the awesome sound thump monsters generate. I mean people on the road actually used to turn around and envy us passing by them early in the morning, some site that was… hehe.

We took a halt at Murbad, gathered some refreshments and headed towards Malshej Ghat. But just as we thought of gaining some momentum so as to reach the spot quickly, our speedster Mr.Kamran’s bike encountered a small problem which took some time to fix. Once done, we thumped at a comfortable 70kmph on the highways before arriving at the picturesque ghat section. But as we reached the ghats riders were in their own trip and few of us overshoot the spot and went on riding for around 10 kilometers ahead losing out on the rappelling time we had set aside. Actually the place is so scenic you don’t tend to think you just keep on going and with the bullets you really don’t feel the pressure of riding, its like sitting in your couch.

On the way back we decided against taking unnecessary halts in order to reach at least Kalyan before dusk. But trust Mother Nature to play spoil sport, as we were coming down from the ghats I saw this nice water fall, a small one of course but enough to take a break and have some fun time. I immediately parked my bike and jumped in the water and in no time the whole gang came and joined in. It was so relaxing after a long journey, you just need to experience it yourself believe me. After having lunch we launched ourselves and in one go we reached Kalyan. It was a sigh of relive to all the members that we touched Mumbai at a decent time. As we had committed to the Royal Enfield staff, few of us, the non Bullet members had to say bye and off went the bullets.

Over all the trip was amazing we all enjoyed it to the fullest. Let me take the honor on behalf of all the riders to give our thanks to Royal Enfield for this memorable journey they took us on. Eagerly awaiting the next trip and the day I call myself a true Bulleteer.
